Ever since its Broadway premiere, Guys and Dolls has been celebrated as the perfect musical comedy. A two-time winner of both the Tony Awards and the Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Musical, its iconic status was further cemented by the film adaptation starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
Bursting with humour, pace, razor-sharp dialogue, spectacular dance numbers, and irresistible big band music, the show takes audiences from the streets of New York’s underworld to the heat of Havana. Showgirls, gamblers, con artists, and hopeless romantics collide in a vibrant and sparkling story about daring to risk everything.
In 1930s New York, gambler Nathan Detroit is desperately trying to find a venue for his illegal floating crap game. In an attempt to raise the money he needs, he makes a bet with high-rolling gambler Sky Masterson: Sky must take the devout mission worker Sarah Brown on a date to Havana — a woman Nathan is convinced will reject him outright. Confident he can win, Sky puts up the money to prove him wrong.
What begins as a cynical wager soon spirals into a whirlwind of comedy, misunderstandings, and unexpected romance. But can you gamble on love and win the ultimate jackpot? And what happens when the heart suddenly becomes the highest stake of all?
Based on Damon Runyon’s stories of gangsters and showgirls, Guys and Dolls features some of the greatest big band music in musical theatre history by Frank Loesser. The score is packed with timeless classics, from “Luck Be a Lady” to “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.”
With more than 50 performers, singers, dancers, and musicians on stage, Guys and Dolls is a spectacular cocktail of colour, laughter, and unforgettable music.
Guys and Dolls will be performed in Danish.
